In the ageless waters of The Mios, sisters and cousins share the same timeless world — but Burakku swims on its shadowy side. A hybrid of a deep-sea telescopefish and a vampire squid, she is among the most powerful of the family: her telescopic eye can spot enemies lurking far beyond the darkness, while her webbed vampire-squid cape can cloak her presence and make her disappear from their sight. Quiet, watchful and just a little wicked, Burakku has chosen the perfect season to reveal herself to our world for the very first time. This Halloween, the darkness finally gets its own squish.

About Us

Hi everyone! Welcome to Squishabelle! I’m a squishy lover, collector and designer — all squished into one. I created The Mios, a family of mythical aquatic characters who may be sisters, cousins or something wonderfully in between. In their mythical world they are ageless, sharing one timeless generation even though their personalities could not be more different.

“Mio” means “waterway” in Japanese. Each Mio carries her own powers, story and place in this strange underwater family — whether she uses those gifts to protect marine life, hide in the shadows, or keep us guessing.

Axomie

Axomie, the first Sea Guardian I created, is an axolotl–mermaid hybrid. Her glow-in-the-dark gills serve as a beacon of light, guiding her marine family and friends safely through the darkness.

She also possesses restorative powers: not only can she regrow her own arms and tail, she can help heal mammals, corals and other ocean life — making her a gentle guardian with a quietly extraordinary gift.
